On Homogeneous Segments

چکیده
Properties of homogeneous segment sets are investigated in this paper. A universal characterization of homogeneous sets is presented in the form of a polynomial algorithm which decides whether or not a set S is homogeneous with respect to S∗. It is shown that any set of homogeneous segments can be reduced to the uniquely determined minimal base and a polynomial algorithm solving this task is presented as well. Further, an efficient algorithm for finding the segment representation of a word by homogeneous segments is provided.

A study of broadcast news audio stream segmentation and segment clustering
In transcription of broadcast news, dividing the signal into homogeneous segments, and clustering together similar segments is important. Decoding a complete broadcast news program in one chunk is technically di cult. Also, through creation of homogeneous clusters of segments, improvement from adaptation can be increased. Two systems of segmentation and clustering are compared. The best system ...
متن کاملSurface Clustering from Airborne Laser Scanning Data
This paper presents an algorithm for the extraction of surface clusters from airborne laser data. Surface structure analysis is fundamental to almost any application involving LIDAR data, yet most algorithms focus only on identifying planar segments. The proposed algorithm is more general insofar as it aims at extracting surface segments that exhibit an homogeneous behavior, without restriction...
متن کاملAutomatic Adaptation of Segmentation Parameters Applied to Inhomogeneous Objects Detection
Virtually all segmentation methods require parameter tuning, quite a difficult task, mostly performed manually through a troublesome trial-and-error process. To overcome this difficulty, an earlier work describes an automatic parameter adjustment method using Genetic Algorithms (GAs), given an initial set of reference object samples. The method performs well only for homogeneous objects. Howeve...
متن کاملStreamlines in stationary homogeneous isotropic turbulence and fractal-generated turbulence
We compare streamline statistics in stationary homogeneous isotropic turbulence and in turbulence generated by a fractal square grid. We examine streamline segments characterised by the velocity difference u D and the distance l between extremum points. We find close agreement between the stationary homogeneous isotropic turbulence and the decay region of the fractal-generated turbulence as wel...
متن کاملEvaluating the Illinois Stream Valley segment model as an effective management tool.
Stream habitat assessments are conducted to evaluate biological potential, determine anthropogenic impacts, and guide restoration projects. Utilizing these procedures, managers must first select a representative stream reach, which is typically selected based on several criteria. To develop a consistent and unbiased procedure for choosing sampling locations, the Illinois Department of Natural R...
